In the summer of 2017, Hayrapet and Hanna started to develop the idea of providing kayaks for rent in Lake Sevan, and organizing water and land cruise in areas around it. Lake Sevan is one of the greatest treasures of Armenia, always being in the center of attention of locals and tourists. In the period of past few years they have managed to develop various tours around Lake Sevan, while kayaking has helped them to discover the whole beauty of the lake itself. Regardless of the whole beauty of the lake, its ecosystem is in poor condition. Here is where our team wants to engage and help! HayHan kayaking camping trip project was launched on January 15th. In between February 5 to March 31 we met with the young people from Sevan and the surrounding communities and had a public discussion on topics like Lake Sevan, Its Challenges and Solutions, Healthy lifestyle and the role of kayaking in it. In April we will open the HayHan kayaking center. Our services will include providing kayaks for rent, organization of tours in the mountains and on the lake. The profit coming out of these activities will be addressed to eliminating such problems as the dirty environment of the lake, education on ecotourism. During one quarter of year, we plan to have cleaned around 25km from the coastal area, as well as to train about 100 young people from communities on ecotourism and its impact.

What we have

We will implement the project with a team of professionals who are professionally engaged in kayaking and with young people full of life. The municipality has provided temporary office space in Sevan city to carry our activities. The program is implemented within the framework of “Bridge for SCOs” program.
